Gezellig
Gezellig is a unique Dutch adjective that is most often translated as "cozy". This is a very vague and rough translation, however, because Gezellig means much more than this. Indeed, a study was once undertaken and Gezellig was found to be one of ten non-English words voted "hardest to translate", according to a sample of 1,000 linguists.
A better translation would be that gezellig describes a pleasant state of mind; a comfortable and happy time spent in good company; an environment that promotes happiness and good things; a contagious vibe.
It has been said that a major reason that the word, gezellig, cannot be translated easily, is because the word encompasses more than literal meaning, but also has cultural connotations and overtones that cannot be conveyed via language.
The related noun is gezelligheid.
