Gay Amsterdam

Amsterdam is extremely gay friendly. The policy of The Netherlands is to tolerate and not only does this include the famous drug policy but this also extends to sexuality.

The whole of Amsterdam is very gay friendly. I have seen gay and lesbians alike kissing openly and holding hands in public with no problems.

That said, there is also a small section of town, not quite a "quarter" but more of a street that has many gay interests.

The lower half of Warmoestraat extending from Dam Square contains a couple of gay clubs, Cockring and Argos. There is also a gay cinema and a number of fetish shops.

Other than that, there are several gay venues around town but these are further afield and not as concentrated.

There are also a number of gay friendly hotels in town. The most popular is The Golden Bear.
