Zandvoort

Zandvoort is famous for its beaches and sandy dunes, being one of the most popular holiday destinations for Dutch people. As you fly into Schipol, the beautiful dunes will be the first thing that you will see.

Only a short train ride away of thirty minutes from Amsterdam's Central Station, direct trains run in the summer, and at other times visitors must change trains at nearby Haarlem. There are also regular buses that run from Amsterdam to Zandvoort.

Zandvoort is most famous worldwide for its motor racing track, Circuit Park Zandvoort. It used to play host to the pinaccle of motor racing, Formula One, from 1952 to 1985 but still hosts a number of events, including the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3. Circuit Park Zandvoort also recently held its first A1GP race.

Zandvoort is dominated by its long beaches and large dunes. Amongst the many beaches, there is a nudist beach and gay beach. The beaches are sandy, not pebbly. Dotted along the beachfront are a number of cafes and restaurants, also known as "paviljoenen".

Zandvoort BeachOther diversions to be found at Zandvoort include the Holland Casino Zandvoort and the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park which can be found to the north or the town.
