Tourist Information

Your hotel concierge is often a good source of basic tourist information but the best source of official tourist information in Amsterdam is the Amsterdam Tourist Board, formerly known as the VVV.

Commonly pronounced "Vay-vay-vay", the Amsterdam Tourist and Convention Board can advise you about many different signs, sounds and attractions in Amsterdam.

Whether or not you have some ideas already, they can suggest a number of options and there are often possibilities to book and reserve there and then in one of the many tourist offices.

At a number of counters (some express), you can:

- book and collect theater and concert tickets
- book excursions
- buy gift vouchers
- book accommodation
- buy train tickets
- buy strippenkarts and day passes for trams and subway trains
- buy tickets for Connexxion Hotel Shuttle
- buy maps
- pick up free brochures and leaflets
- ask general questions
